Build a scalable, renewable energy infrastructure

Switch your home to clean energy

One of the simplest ways to take action on climate change as an individual is to switch your home energy supply to greener electricity providers.

One of the simplest ways to take action on climate change as an individual is to switch your home energy supply to greener electricity providers. Not only will you be using renewable energy to power your home but you’ll also be helping to transform our electricity system to increase investment in renewable energy sources and shutting down dirty fossil fuels which currently form 76% of our electricity supplies.

Australia

The Green Electricity Guide

Greenpeace has created The Green Electricity Guide - doing all the research into the greenest electricity providers so you don’t have to.

Greenpower

GreenPower is renewable energy from government accredited sources. Almost all electricity retailers in Australia have a GreenPower Accredited product that lets you purchase between 10 and 100% of your electricity from a renewable source.

  • If you switch to GreenPower, you will also be supporting Australia’s renewable energy industry and assisting with demonstrating increased market demand.

Choose a responsible and environmentally-friendly energy provider.

Some suggested green energy providers include

UK

Energy Saving Trust

If you live in the UK you can transfer your electricity to a clean source but it’s important to know what you’re actually signing up for. The Energy Saving Trust website gives a helpful breakdown of what to look for when signing up for ‘green’ electricity plans.

Big Clean Switch

Big Clean Switch develops solutions for homes and businesses to help accelerate the transition to green energy. They provide a very user friendly service for transferring your energy supply and whilst they have currently suspended it they will be bringing it back in 2023.

International

NZ Compare

NZ Compare is a website set up to help plan domestic finances in New Zealand. One part of the service they provide is an introduction to green energy suppliers.

  • You can find their guide here.

Sierra Club

The Sierra Club is one of the original grassroots environmental organisations in the United States. As part of their analysis work they have put together a tool to assess the green claims of different utility providers.
